The purpose of Melbourne Eastern Suburbs Hackers Incorporated is to support a growing DIY community in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our meetings allow people from many different backgrounds to develop cross-discipline projects, collaborate and learn together. There is a broad range of disciplines from 3-D printing, robotics, computer programming to art & sculpture and the traditional – even cooking. Our major goals are to create a sense of community and make a safe, secure environment for people to learn and have fun. Our members are free to collaborate or to pursue solo projects. Melbourne Eastern Suburbs Hackers will also work with other like-minded organisations to run events such as a Makerfare. Our group supports opensource hardware and software licensing and standards.
There are three types of memberships with three different rates: Student / Pensioner Concession $35.00, Solo Member $45.00, Family $55.00. You can pay the fee when you come to your first meeting, or second meeting – the first meeting is free. Our current meetings are held at the fantastic Ringwood Trade Training Facility (RTTF), 3 Hill Street Ringwood East – it shares a campus with Ringwood Secondary College.
The membership fee is paid yearly. There is also a $10.00 fee for every session that you attend, if you have a family membership it is $10.00 plus $2.00 for each additional family member.
